I found my Toyger at an animal shelter. He was only 6 weeks old. They had him listed as a mixed breed. With adoption fees, he was only about $150

@Fredrick This is what happened with my turkish angoras! I got a brother and sister from the same litter that an old lady could take care of anymore (I assume she had alzheimers or something and her family dropped them off at a shelter). $3000 worth of cat for about $300, listed as domestic long hairs on their paperwork.

@Fredrick Same. We got our little toyger boy Teddy from a shelter when he was 8 weeks old. His adoption price was $160 and we donated an extra $50 to the shelter, so we paid $210 in total. He was given up by a breeder because he’s not “perfect” and was a runt… but he’s absolutely perfect to me 🙂 sweetest little dude, and also a little too smart for his own good- he figured out how to unlock and open doors just by watching us, so we had to get child proof locks for all of our door handles lol! We take him for walks to get some of his energy out and to give him some mental stimulation. He’s become best friends with our adult cat Ash, and they really love each other. He’s a very social little boy. Toygers are great kitties all around and I had no idea they even existed until the woman at the shelter told me what his breed is! He was listed as a mixed breed short hair, but he’s absolutely a toyger, and I’m so glad we found him and were able to give him a good home 🙂
